Are you interested in giving Medieval Chaos a shot? Here are some helpful suggestions to give you the best possible experience in the game!
What to wear!
MC strives to be an immersive fantasy world, complete with Elves, Goblins, knights and sorcerers. To this end, players and spectators are invited to don their best interpretation of fantasy clothing. Be creative! This is not only to help you incorporate yourself into the world, but also to allow others the same immersion. With this in mind, there are some articles of clothing MC won't allow into the game:
- No jeans
- No visible logos
- No sneakers or running shoes
What to bring!
Medieval Chaos events generally last between 6 and 8 hours. You're going to get thirsty and hungry! Often there are in-character food vendors at Dagger Deep, however this isn't always the case. As such, it is suggested that you bring some in-character food and drink. If you have a can of pop, decant it into a slightly more IC vessel – or disguise the can in some way. The same goes for food and snacks. Everyone loves the person who has some snacks to share!
What to expect!
Gatehouse opens at 3pm and closes at 5pm. Once you are processed through the gatehouse and enter Dagger Deep, you are in an entirely different world! At around 5 or 6pm, a conch-horn will be blown and this will summon all players to the 'First Conch', an Out-Of-Character briefing about what the day will entail. After the important things have been explained, the game-master for the day will call 'Lay on!' and the scripted events of the day will begin.
The game will continue until the game-master calls 'To the Pain!', which signifies that the official portion of the day has concluded. At this point, a debriefing circle similar to the First Conch will be held to explain some elements of what occurred during the mission, as well as to pass on any final comments. After that, the roleplay becomes informal and unstructured – though players must make sure they are still in character! This is considered 'Post-Mission', and is a great time to experience the tavern or have a bite to eat and enjoy the nighttime entertainment.
Resources for most game info can be found in our Media section, along the top-right of your webpage. Of utmost importance to you, in regards to getting an idea for the effects and how to flesh out your character's race/class progression, is the Medieval Chaos Player's Handbook. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask here on our forums in the FAQ section.
Furthermore, please go ahead and make your character (with class listed as 'peasant') on our website. This will be used to track your leveling progress within the game. Our Experience Officer strongly suggests a first and last name/title, if you can manage it.
